Raining Cats and Dogs

The title of this Blog is appropriately named for 3 themes:
1. During our Night Walking tour in Brasov, it started to rain like "the Dickens". One of the Romanian tour guides-in-training said proudly "it's raining cats and dogs", and then proceeded to tell me the British origins of the expression going back to the Middle Ages (even though I knew it).
2. Despite the rainy day, witnessed a lot of cats all around Bucharest, lounging, napping or just people watching.
3. Upon our arrival in Bulgaria (Veliko Tărnovo), we learn there are a lot of stray dogs. They hang out at the corners, in front of the cafes, in groups of 6-8, but are fairly polite and sad-looking. They reminded me of homeless people that just want a warm/dry home to live in.

Window shopping in downtown Bucharest and look what I see in the chair...

First view of the merchant window- you almost think the sleeping cat is part of the display!

In the pouring rain, a stray cat is sitting under the awning of the former house of the Romanian who invented insulin.

My new pal from the walking tour in Veliko Tărnovo (Bulgaria). Doesn't he look so sad? I wanted to take him home!!!
